Popular Startups backed by Ratan Tata

Ratan Tata is one of the popular name as a startup investors. He has already invested in many startus in India. Here are few startups which as backed by Ratan Tata.

1- Paytm
Paytm is one of the most popular mobile wallet payment service. Ratan Tata has stake in One97 Communications, the parent company of Paytm. Paytm launched in Aug 2010 and based out in Delhi NCR, India. Paytm is available through a browser and also paytm app is available on the Android, Windows and iOS operating systems. Paytm also launched Paytm Wallet, which became India's largest mobile payment service platform with over 150 million wallets and 75 million android based app downloads and counting. By using Paytm Wallet users can book air tickets and taxis, mobile recharge, and payment of DTH, broadband and electricity bills etc.

2- OLA Cabs
One of the popular cab service Ola cabs founded by Bhavish Aggarval also backed by Ratan Tata. The app acts as a mediator between cab driver and passenger and Ola earns by charging commission in from the cab drivers.

In July 2015, Ratan Tata invested an undisclosed amount of money in Ola. Tata's venture capital firm RNT Capital Advisors also made an investment of Rs 400 crore.

3- Snapdeal
Snapdeal is the first ecommerce company where Ratan Tata has invested nearly Rs 5 Crore in 2014. He picked 0.17% stake in Snapdeal.


4- Zivame
Zivame is an online lingerie selling platform started by Richa Kar and Kapil Karekar has also got funding from Ratan Tata. Ratan Tata invested in September 2015 in Zivame.

5- Xiaomi
Ratan Tata also invested an undisclosed amount in Chinese tech giant Xiaomi. Xiaomi is popular in India because of the affordable smartphones they provide to Indian market.

6- Urban Ladder
Ratan Tata also invested in popular furniture selling platform Urban Ladder which is based out in Bangalore. Ratan Tata invested in November 2015. Urban Ladder provides services in 12 cities around India.

7- Cash Karo
One of the popular cash back and coupons offers site CashKaro.com also backed by Ratan Tata. Cashkaro raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Ratan Tata in January 2016. Gurgaon based Cashkaro.com founded by couple Swati and Rohan Bhargava in 2013.

8- Lenskart
Ratan Tata also invested in Lenskart.com which sells optical items such as eye glasses, contact lenses, sunglasses etc. Lenskart.com got funding from Ratan Tata in April 2016.

9- Cardekho
Cardekho.com one of the popular car portal where user can buy, sell, and explore new and used cars also got funding from Ratan Tata. Ratan Tata invested undisclosed amount of fund in GirnarSoft which runs CarDekho.com, BikeDekho.com and PriceDekho.com.

10- UrbanClap
Rata Tata also invested in UrbanClap in December 2015. UrbanClap is a market place which allows users to book services online. These include everything from plumbing to electrical work.

11- YourStory.com
Ratan Tata also invested in popular media firm YourStory.com. In august 2015, Ratan Tata made an investment on YourStory.com. YourStory focuses on startups and entreprenurships stories.

12- Blue Stone
Rata Tata also invested in Blue Stone which is a martket place to sell jewellery online. Ratan Tata invested in July 2015.

13- Firstcry
Firstcry is asia's largest online market place for products for kids and babies. Ratan Tata also invested in Firstcry in January 2016.
