980 officers to be hired through civil services exam

Government is planning to hire 980 officers in the field of IAS, IFS and IPS through civil services exam 2017. The number is lowest in the past 5 years. Previously in 2016 the number was 1079 and in 2015 it was 1164.

Amoung 980 which there will be 27 vacancies reserved for those in physically handicapped category.

UPSC notification said The final number of vacancies may undergo change after getting firm number of vacancies from cadre controlling authorities. Reservation will be made for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and Physically Disabled categories in respect of vacancies as may be fixed by the government.

The exam also preponed to June 18. The last date for receiving the applications for the preliminary test is March 17.
